Henry Dems to kick off 2008 with picnic
6/12/2008
The Henry County Democratic Party will host a picnic at Sandy Ridge Park from noon to 4pm on Saturday June 14th. Candidates up and down the primary ballot have been invited to come speak to local Democrats and learn about the concerns of Henry County voters. Food and drink will be available as Democrats prepare to work hard and have fun on their way to making history this coming November.
"Our volunteers have been knocking on doors and making phone calls inviting local Democrats to attend," stated Chairman Jim Nichols. "Republican policy continues to leave our citizens stuck in traffic, our nation less secure, and our soldiers coming home without the benefits they deserve. It has energized citizens in Henry to get involved. The recent reorganization locally and our Democratic priorities of affordable health care, pro-job economics, and schools that teach our kids rather than leave them behind is bringing in new volunteers every day. Voters are saying no to the apathy and division the Republican Party promotes with their swift-boat attack ads and their candidates that tell us it's only going to get worse."
Confirmed candidates include PSC candidate Jim Powel, Henry County Sheriff candidate Joe Mack Eckler, US Senate candidate Rand Knight, State Senator Emanuel Jones, State Senate District 17 candidate Rudy Cox, State Senate District 44 candidates: DeMont Davis, Gail Buckner, and Gail Davenport, and House District 91 candidate Rita Robinzine.
Sandy Ridge Park is located at 1200 Keys Ferry Road McDonough, GA 30252. Car-pools have been made available for voters who need rides or want to conserve gas. Voter Registration forms, information about political participation, as well as volunteer opportunities, will be available. Information will be available on the national Neighborhood Leader Program run by the Democratic National Committee which works to get local voters to speak with neighbors on why they support the Democratic Party's values, priorities, and policies.
